Friday night I had dinner with some of my colleagues from the UK. Melbourne was really buzzing with the start of the Grand Prix. You could tell there was a sporting event in town because the male population seemed to have doubled overnight. As we were sitting at an outside table, my UK colleagues were marveling at the Melbourne skyline. They said that they knew it was a common look for me, but they just couldn’t stop staring because it was so different from home. The skyscrapers did make it look very American.
We were sharing the table with another party, something that Americans try to avoid at all costs. It turns out the ladies in that party were from the UK and started chatting and in no time at all, I noticed they were eating our appetizers! See, we Americans aren't so foolish after all. You start sharing a table and see what that leads to?
